The President of the Venice Commission, took part in the Political Affairs and Democracy Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly plenary meeting, which was held in Oslo, Norway, on 30 and 31 May 2024.
The President of the Venice Commission was invited to give a speech during the hearing under the item "General Rapporteur on Democracy" on Thursday 30 May. The speech focused on the work carried out by the Venice Commission to assist States in the constitutional and legislative field with a view to guaranteeing the democratic functioning of their institutions and respect for fundamental rights and was followed by a series of questions from parliamentarians.
