By letter dated 6.09.2023 the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, Ms Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, requested an opinion of the Venice Commission on the Law No. 252 of 17.08.2023 “On the external assessment of judges and prosecutors and amending some normative acts”.

The Venice Commission and the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law (DGI) of the Council of Europe will prepare this opinion jointly as a follow-up opinion to their previous joint opinions concerning this law.

The draft joint follow-up opinion will be submitted for adoption at the 136th Plenary Session of the Venice Commission (6-7 October 2023).
