The President of the Venice Commission Mr Gianni Buquicchio has made the following statement: "Constitutional courts are the guardians of constitutions. It is essential that the Constitutional Court provided for by the Constitution of Tunisia be established and begin to exercise its functions as soon as possible. I call on all the political forces sitting in the People's Representatives Assembly to elect without further delay the parliamentary quota of the members of the Court by a qualified majority, as stipulated by the Constitution, in order to ensure a pluralist composition of the Court."
