Baku - At the request of the Azerbaijani authorities and the Committee of Ministers, the Venice Commission provides legal assistance in the drafting of the law on protection against defamation. A delegation from the Commission went to Baku to discuss the legislative process with the authorities, representatives of civil society and the media with the view to improve the national legal framework regulating the protection against defamation, in conformity with the ECHR and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
