On 19 September 2025, the Commission made public an urgent amicus curiae brief in the case of Grande Oriente d’Italia v. Italy (Application no. 29550/17) on three legal questions concerning the principle of parliamentary autonomy reflected in the constitution and exercise of the powers of parliamentary inquiry committees and procedural guarantees provided for third parties whose rights may be affected by a parliamentary inquiry. The urgent brief was prepared upon the request by the European Court of Human Rights dated 4 June 2025.
