Ganna Khrystova, the Legal Adviser of the Council of Europe Project «Preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence in Ukraine» participated in the Seminar for lawyers “Sharing Best Practices” organized by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Kyiv on 16-17 November 2015. The DRC is currently implementing a broad range of activities relevant to conflict affected communities and persons in Ukraine.

Mrs. Khrystova delivered a presentation on the Ukrainian legislation on gender-based violence. She presented the key recommendations of the legislative assessment report on compliance of selected Ukrainian laws with the Istanbul Convention and described the current status of legislative amendments developed by national stakeholders. The added value of the Istanbul Convention and the perspective of its ratification by Ukraine in 2016 were highlighted.
