The Steering Committee on Democracy (CDDEM) will meet from 26 to 28 November in Strasbourg during its fourth plenary session, bringing together key stakeholders from member states and invited experts.
Over the next three days, the Committee will progress on key initiatives, including the implementation of the “Reykjavík Principles for Democracy,” the update of Recommendation CM/Rec(2007)14 on the legal status of civil society organisations, and on the impact of artificial intelligence in democratic processes. Discussions will also continue on a set of guidelines to enhance the participation of women, girls, young people and vulnerable groups in elections.
Participants will take stock of recent democratic developments in Europe, reflect on the outcomes of the 2025 World Forum for Democracy, and be updated on the New Democratic Pact for Europe.
