Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić received a courtesy visit by Holy See Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
The exchange of views focused on Council of Europe-Holy See relations and on the importance of the inter-religious dimension of intercultural dialogue.
The relevance of the abolition of the death penalty and the situation of democracy across the continent were also mentioned in the meeting.
Cardinal Parolin is also meeting PACE President Rik Daems, Human Rights Commissioner Dunja Mijatović and the President of the European Court of Human Rights Robert Spano.
