Finland makes a voluntary contribution of €1 250 000

The government of Finland has made three different voluntary contributions in total of €1 250 000 to the Council of Europe: €500 000 to the European Court of Human Rights backlog of well-founded cases, €500 000 to the implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2022, and €250 000 for actions preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, Roma inclusion, the promotion of human rights and equality for LGBTI persons, and strengthening the participation of civil society.

The agreements were signed on 23 June 2021 by Ambassador Nina Nordström, Permanent Representative of Finland to the Council of Europe and Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General. In addition, Finland has recently pledged €200,000 to the Human Rights Trust Fund which supports states' efforts to meet their commitments under the European Convention on Human Rights and other Council of Europe human rights standards.
