A conference will be dedicated to the growing threat posed by falsified medical products, which has evolved into a sophisticated global criminal industry exploiting, in particular, online platforms, social media and artificial intelligence. Discussions will focus on emerging risks, such as the falsification of veterinary medicines, high-demand treatments for weight loss or diabetes for example, or substances used in sport, as well as the increased involvement of organised criminal networks. In the face of these threats to public health, the conference aims to highlight the MEDICRIME Convention as the primary international legal instrument, encourage its ratification and strengthen cooperation between political, judicial and health authorities.

Organised by the Council of Europe and the Moldovan Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (Ministry of Health), the conference will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Radisson Blu Leogrand Hotel. Accreditation requests should be sent to: [email protected], Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices.

On 29 April, the Committee of the Parties to the Convention is expected to adopt, in a plenary meeting, a report on: The MEDICRIME Convention in the age of AI: challenges and opportunities ».
