The Council of Europe has supported the enhancement of the technical capacities of the Human Rights Defender’s Office of Armenia (HRDO) in the light of the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Armenia. The activity has been carried out under the Project “Human Rights and Women in the Armed Forces of Armenia-Phase II” (the “Project”).

On 9 April 2021 the Project provided the HRDO with a set of technical equipment to implement activities directed to address their newly emerged needs as derived from the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the majority of cooperation and connections have moved online, the donated technical equipment will allow the HRDO to conduct fact-finding missions, maintain better connection with its regional offices and be in touch with international experts and partners via on-line means.

The Project is implemented by the Council of Europe within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2019-2022. Action Plan level funding is provided by Germany, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Sweden.
