On 19 August 2025, the Council of Europe launched the Armenian version of the HELP online course on Protecting children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. Adapted to the local context as part of the Council of Europe project “Protecting the rights of Armenian children in post-conflict context”, this free training course is designed for legal professionals and other stakeholders committed to safeguarding children from this heinous crime. In her keynote address, the Chair of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Committee), Maria José Castello-Branco, stressed the challenges State Parties face in implementing the Convention as well as the good practices, with specific reference to the Armenian context. She emphasised the vital role of frontline professionals, especially in supporting vulnerable children such as displaced and migrant minors. The event brought together representatives from key Ministries, the first cohort of trainees, who will begin the training on 11 September 2025.
In addition to that, between June and August 2025, over sixty participants from different regions across Armenia, including those most affected by migration flows, benefitted from the training sessions on Effective guardianship for professionals working with children. Organised by the Council of Europe project “Protecting the rights of Armenian children in post-conflict context”, the trainings provided the participants with valuable opportunities to exchange practical experiences and share promising practices to enhance their daily work.
