Building on the Council of Europe’s thematic paper, Ensuring a human rights-compliant end to refugeehood through integration, naturalisation or voluntary repatriation, the webinar will bring together as panelists experts from academia, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the European Commission and the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA).
Discussions will address human rights safeguards in procedures for the cessation of refugee status and human rights compliant voluntary return, as well as the role of integration in host countries and naturalisation in providing durable solutions.
The event aims to strengthen awareness and implementation of European and international human rights and refugee law standards in the context of evolving domestic laws and practices relating to the end of refugee status.
The Zoom link will be shared with registered participants.
