The European Commission is preparing its first five-year European asylum and migration management strategy, which is expected to be presented by the end of 2025. The strategy will set out a comprehensive and forward-looking vision for migration management across the EU, drawing on the national migration and asylum strategies to be submitted by member states to the European Commission by June 2025.
As part of this process, the EU has included the Council of Europe’s input to its strategy and will take it into account as it further develops and fine-tunes this initiative.
The Council of Europe remains committed to working closely with the European Union and other international partners to promote coherent, rights-based migration and asylum policies across the continent.
