Council of Europe completed a comparative study on the workload of the public prosecutors in selected Council of Europe member states, including Germany, Ireland, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and Great Britain. The study draws particular attention to the issues of measurement and distribution of workload between prosecutors. In order to understand each selected country’s approach to these issues, the study also provides general information on structure, functions, organization and operation of public prosecution service in the selected states. The main goal of the comparative study is to assist the Office of the Prosecutor General in calculating the workload and defining criteria on its distribution among the individual public prosecutors in each office and also among different territorial units.

The country reports have been prepared by Grażyna Stanek (Poland), James Hamilton (Ireland), Gaja Štovičej (Slovenia), Catherine Carrie (UK), and Lorena Bachmaier (Germany and Spain) who also consolidated the study. The study was conducted in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Human Rights Compliant Criminal Justice System in Ukraine”, which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2021.
