On 6 October 2026, the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, will hold a webinar “The European Social Charter as a Mechanism for Protecting Social Rights: Empowering Civil Society Organisations”.
The webinar aims to demonstrate to representatives of civil society and human rights organisations, think tanks and professional associations how to turn the European Social Charter from a theoretical instrument into a practical tool that can be used both to advocate for public policy changes, monitor the implementation of the State’s social commitments, and engage with international mechanisms for the protection of social rights.
Participants will learn how to effectively use the standards of the European Social Charter and the case-law of the European Committee of Social Rights, including:
- where to find and how to interpret the conclusions and decisions of the European Committee of Social Rights;
- what social rights are guaranteed by the European Social Charter and how they relate to other European human rights instruments;
- how the Committee’s findings can be used in advocacy and human rights work, as well as what opportunities exist for direct engagement with the Committee.
The webinar will be held in Ukrainian for the registered participants. Upon completion of the webinar, participants will receive a certificate of participation, as well as Council of Europe promotional materials.
