On November 21, Mariana Betsa, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with Maciej Janczak, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine.

Mariana Betsa underlined the effective work of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, primarily in the areas of implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine "Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction" 2023-2026 and assistance in the functioning of mechanisms for compensation by the aggressor country for damages to victims of war.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the implementation of the Action Plan, focusing on the priority needs of Ukrainian society and the Government.

"Thanks to the expert support of the Council of Europe and donors, a number of important projects aimed at rebuilding Ukraine, strengthening the potential of state institutions, democratic governance, the rule of law and protecting citizens' rights are already being implemented," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Mariana Betsa emphasized the leading role of the Council of Europe in holding the Russian Federation accountable for the crimes committed.

The meeting participants exchanged views on the functioning of the International Register of Damage Caused by the Russian Federation's Aggression against Ukraine, the representative office of which began operating in Kyiv in March 2024.
