Discussion “Election of independent and professional Supervisory Board of Public Broadcaster and its role for success of Public Broadcaster”

On 30 November 2020 (14:00-16:20) Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine with the support of the Project “European Union and Council of Europe working together to support freedom of media in Ukraine” are organizing online-discussion “Election of independent and professional Supervisory Board of Public Broadcaster and its role for success of Public Broadcaster”.

Ukraine is entering the period of re-election of the Supervisory Board members of the Ukrainian Public Broadcaster - JSC “National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine” (UA:PBC). It is of utmost important to ensure the independence of this process, that the appointments of the political factions are not used to exert political or other influence over the operation of the UA:PBC, and that the election of the representatives of the civil society organisations was made in an open and pluralistic manner to represent collectively the interests of society in general.

The goal of event is to discuss the role of independent Supervisory Board of UA:PBC and explain/remind the selection criteria for members of the Supervisory Board enshrined in Law on Public Broadcasting and the Council of Europe standards.
