On 19 May 2025 the first Steering Committee meeting of the Council of Europe project “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase IV” was held in Kyiv.
The Council of Europe project “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase IV” was launched within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” for 2023-2026. The project builds on the results and experience of the Council of Europe project “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine” in 2020-2024 and strengthens and supports meaningful youth participation in decision-making processes, particularly in the context of reconstruction of Ukraine. This includes enhancing participatory youth policies and mainstreaming youth perspective; reinforcing youth work, and supporting youth centres and youth organisations as platforms of civic engagement and democratic participation.
Representatives of national partners of the Council of Europe – the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, All-Ukrainian Youth Centre, Ukrainian Youth Foundation, as well Youth Department of the Council of Europe and the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine underlined positive effects of the third phase of the project, discussed recent developments and state of youth policy and youth work in Ukraine and the youth sector of the Council of Europe. The committee approved the project work plan for 2025-2026 and scheduled the next meeting in November 2025.
