26-27 March, a Training-of-Trainers (ToT) under the Council of Europe’s HELP (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) Programme was successfully held in Lviv. The event brought together trainers from different justice training institutions, trainers of lawyers and civil servants to enhance their capacity to deliver high-quality legal training focused on European human rights standards based on the Council of Europe HELP courses.
Two-day HELP ToT was organised by the Council of Europe Project “HELP (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) for Ukraine including during wartime”, Phase II and the Prosecutor`s Training Center of Ukraine. The training aimed to equip participants with the methodology and tools necessary to adapt and launch HELP courses for Ukrainian groups of legal professionals.
The participants have been delegated by project partners including the Prosecutor`s Training Center of Ukraine, the National School of Judges, the High School of Advocacy, the High School of Public Governance, and the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision.
Key sessions included in-depth presentations of the HELP methodology, hands-on practice with the HELP e-learning platform, and exchanges and group work on national adaptation of HELP courses.
The training was facilitated by Krystyna Khokhlova, Programme manager, HELP Programme of the Council of Europe, Galyna Smirnova, Senior Project Officer of the HELP for Ukraine Project and experienced HELP tutor Dmytro Lotiuk, Head of the Analytical Department of Prosecutor Training of the Training Center of Prosecutors of Ukraine. Participants engaged in interactive tasks such as structuring course pages, conducting learner assessments, and simulating preparation of national adaptation of HELP courses.
After completing a practical assignment, successful participants will become certified HELP tutors and will play a key role in adapting, tutoring and launching HELP courses in Ukraine.
Currently 65 HELP courses are available on the HELP Platform in self-learning format, 45 are available in Ukrainian. New users to the HELP platform will have to create an account before accessing this courses.
