Back 103 communities in Ukraine nurture resilience and recovery with the Council of Europe posters

24,753 posters about self-support tools, psychological first aid, resource channels that help to survive difficult events were distributed in communal institutions and local self-government bodies at the request of 100 communities in 23 regions and the city of Kyiv.

A series of seven posters was prepared within the framework of the Council of Europe projects "Facilitating access to human rights and essential services for internally displaced persons and returnees at the community level" and "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III" at the initiative of the trainers of the program "Trauma-Informed Approach in the Context of Access to Human Rights and Essential Services for Internally Displaced Persons and Returnees to Ukraine".

In August 2025, the posters were presented to communities, and in the fall, the NGO "Association of Small Towns of Ukraine" collected requests, sent out posters and held a conference on their application.

Communities reported that posters are already used in administrative, social service centers, hospitals, libraries, schools, youth spaces, starosta districts, and the premises of city, village, and township councils.

"As a deputy and head of the investment development department, I believe that the mental health of residents of the Novoodessa city community is one of the important aspects of recovery. The posters provided by the Association of Small Towns of Ukraine from the Council of Europe project not only inform but also inspire people to seek help and professional support at the local level. By taking care of everyone's health, we form a stronger, more cohesive and sustainable community," said Olena Khlivna-Andreeva, Head of the Investment Development Department of the Novoodessa City Council.

Iryna Potopalska, Head of the Sector for International Cooperation and Support of Public Initiatives of the Department for Support of Public Initiatives and Energy Efficiency of the Zviahel City Council, added: "The series of posters turned out to be extremely useful and practically oriented. The materials are presented in an accessible, visually structured and easy to use both in working with people and for personal self-support. In general, the selection of posters is a high-quality, modern and practical tool."

Ruslan Marchenko, Head of the Department of Cooperation and Project Activities of the Staff of the Chernechchyna Village Council, emphasized: "The posters made a very positive impression, they are clear, visually appealing and practical. The materials are easy to use both in daily work and during trainings, and community residents quickly pay attention to them and are interested in information."
