The project Human Rights and Environmentally Responsible Business Practices supported a training organised on the topic for over 60 members of the European Lawyers Union (UAE).
The lawyers gained practical insight into human rights standards application for business practices through presentations of legal practitioners. An exchange with Raffaele Sabato, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) provided first-hand perspectives on emerging ECtHR jurisprudence and its implications for practitioners. The Council of Europe’s HELP course on Business and Human Rights was presented along with other tools and training materials on the topic of human rights and business.
Participants also enhanced their knowledge of corporate due diligence obligations under EU law thanks to an in-depth analysis by Grégory Thuan dit Dieudonné, lawyer and Chair of the UAE Human Rights Commission, who outlined the current landscape and future trends.
