objectives

The main objective of the project  is to strengthen the efficiency, consistency and legal certainty of the judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina through improved implementation of European human rights standards, harmonisation of judicial practice, and enhanced execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

Specific objectives

  • Strengthen national coordination and institutional capacities for the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
  • Improve the consistent application of national law and European Court case law by judicial authorities and legal professionals.
  • Support the harmonisation of judicial practice and laws to enhance legal certainty and consistency in court decisions.
  • Enhance co-operation among domestic institutions responsible for implementing court judgments and human rights standards.
  • Build the capacities of judges, legal associates, law students and academic staff on the application of the European Convention on Human Rights and relevant case law.
  • Support the development and application of effective domestic remedies, particularly concerning the length of judicial proceedings

  Improved efficiency, consistency and legal certainty within the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 Strengthened national mechanisms and institutional co-ordination for the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

 Enhanced capacity of the Government Agent’s Office and domestic authorities to ensure effective implementation of European Court judgments and domestic remedies.

 Improved harmonisation of judicial practice and alignment of domestic case law with European human rights standards.

 Increased knowledge and practical application of the European Convention on Human Rights and relevant case law among judges, legal professionals, law students and academic staff.

 Strengthened institutional co-operation and communication between judicial institutions and authorities responsible for the implementation of court decisions.

 Greater public confidence in the judiciary through more consistent and rights-based judicial practice
