Series of Training for Newly Appointed Judges in Ethics and Disciplinary Proceedings Concludes in Nis

Following events in Kragujevac, Belgrade, and Novi Sad, a series of training sessions on ethics and disciplinary proceedings concluded with a two-day session in Niš. The training sessions were organised by the Judicial Academy and supported by the Council of Europe, targeting newly appointed judges across all Serbian appellate court territories.

An expert from the Council of Europe presented key principles and discussed important ethical issues related to the professional conduct of judicial duties. He provided an overview of the legal framework and international conventions that safeguard the independence and autonomy of judges. Special emphasis was placed on freedom of speech and the presence of judges on social media. Through the examination of case studies, participants had the opportunity to discuss particularly challenging situations and dilemmas they may encounter.

The joint EU/Council of Europe project “Support for the Implementation of Judicial Reform in Serbia” will continue to support the strengthening of the capacities of the Serbian judiciary in the field of ethics and disciplinary proceedings.
