In July 2025, five junior staff members from national execution coordination authorities received scholarships under the Council of Europe project “Support to efficient domestic capacity for the execution of ECtHR judgments Phase 2 ” to attend the University of Liverpool’s Summer School on “The Effectiveness of the Council of Europe in Tackling Pressing Challenges: Exploring the Execution of ECtHR Judgments and the Complexities of Migration.”
Organised within the OCEAN (Open CoE Academic Network), the two-week programme brought together experts, practitioners, and academics for interactive seminars, workshops, and discussions on the implementation of ECtHR judgments and contemporary migration issues.
Three of the scholarship recipients share how this experience enriched their professional knowledge and skills:
"This Summer School was a wonderful opportunity for me to gain practical insight into the mechanisms used by the Council of Europe to support the implementation of ECtHR judgments directly from experts who are an integral part of this process. The discussions with other participants offered valuable perspectives on how different member states have addressed challenges.
