Final Steering Committee Meeting Highlights Progress in Judicial Reform Efforts

The eighth and final Steering Committee meeting of the joint EU/CoE project Support for the Implementation of Judicial Reform in Serbia was held on 1 December 2025 in Belgrade. The event gathered representatives of all key judicial institutions, whose presence was noted as particularly important for ensuring continuity, ownership, and the long-term sustainability of the reform achievements.

The meeting included reflections on the project’s overall impact and on the strong partnership established throughout its implementation. Participants reviewed the main achievements from 2022 to 2025, as well as the activities carried out in the second half of 2025. The results were praised, with members acknowledging the project’s contribution to strengthening judicial independence, transparency, and efficiency.

A dedicated segment was also used to introduce the new joint EU/Council of Europe action under the Horizontal Facility – Strengthening Legal Culture in Serbia. This marks the continuation of support to national authorities in embedding European standards into everyday judicial practice.

The Steering Committee featured constructive and fruitful discussions, during which members reiterated the importance of coordinated efforts, open dialogue, and standards-based approaches to reform. Participants also exchanged views on upcoming priorities and recommendations for the next phase of cooperation.

The meeting concluded with expressions of appreciation for the work accomplished and a strong commitment to advancing Serbia’s judicial reforms in close partnership with all stakeholders in the judiciary.
