Portugal and San Marino Join the Council of Europe Coalition for Health Literacy and Human Rights

Portugal and San Marino have officially joined the Council of Europe Coalition for Health Literacy and Human Rights, reaffirming their commitment to human rights and equitable access to healthcare.

In confirming Portugal’s participation, Minister of Health Ana Paula Martins highlighted the importance of health literacy as a cornerstone for equitable access to healthcare, stronger prevention policies, public trust, and informed participation in health-related decision-making. 

San Marino’s Minister of Health, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunities, Marco Gatti, highlighted health literacy as a key factor in strengthening health protection, supporting prevention, reducing inequalities, and enabling informed participation in health-related decision-making

By joining the Coalition, San Marino and Portugal contributes to a growing pan-European effort aimed at advancing accessible, inclusive, and people-centred health systems.
