In 2025, particular attention was given to online harassment and gender-based threats affecting women journalists. A dedicated focal point within the Ministry of Interior’s Sector for Computer Crime continued to provide a rapid-response mechanism for cases involving online abuse. Women journalists can report incidents directly or through the Association of Journalists of Macedonia, allowing for faster institutional response and follow-up.

Awareness-raising activities also addressed gender-sensitive reporting and violence against women. One example was the workshop “Ethical and Gender Sensitive Reporting on Human Trafficking and Gender-Based Violence in Institutions and the Media”, which brought together representatives of institutions and media organisations to discuss responsible reporting and cooperation on sensitive topics.
