As part of the implementation of the Government's Freedom of Expression Preparedness strategy, preparations began for the establishment of a new research centre dedicated to freedom of expression. Expected to become operational in 2026, the centre will conduct long-term research on public debate, disinformation, polarisation and the state of freedom of expression in Norway. The initiative aims to strengthen the evidence base available to policymakers and stakeholders working to safeguard democratic participation and an open public sphere.
