Albert Branchadell is a lecturer of Sociolinguistics at the Department of Catalan Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Autonomous University of Barcelona) in Spain. From 2016 to 2022 he was the dean of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting thereof. He has conducted research in theoretical linguistics, Catalan sociolinguistics, translation studies, and political philosophy in connection with (minority) language policy issues. He was a founding member of the Organisation for Multilingualism in Spain and is currently a member of the Societat Catalana de Sociolingüística (Catalan Society of Sociolinguistics), a branch of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (Catalan Academy of Sciences).
