Zaza Tavadze

Zaza Tavadze serves as the President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia after he was elected by the Plenum of the Constitutional Court on 20 October 2016.

Mr Tavadze was appointed as a justice of the Constitutional Court in 2010 by the Supreme Court of Georgia. Before being elected as President, he has served as a Vice-President of the Constitutional Court. During 2016-2017 he acted as the chairperson of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts (CECC) and in 2017-2018 he was the chairperson of the Association of Constitutional Justice of the Countries of the Baltic and Black Sea regions (BBCJ). Mr Tavadze worked as a deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia from 2008 to 2010.

Mr Tavadze graduated from the Open Humanitarian University of Georgia with the qualification of a lawyer in 1996. In 2010 he obtained a master's degree in business administration from the Tbilisi State University of Economic Relations. Since 2019 he pursues PhD studies in public law at the Law Faculty of Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg.

Mr Tavadze is a professor of law at the Grigol Robakidze University in Georgia.
