The Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Commission and Committee on Crime Problems will launch Recommendation CM/Rec(2026)2 on accountability for technology-facilitated violence against women and girls at a hybrid event. The programme includes opening remarks and a keynote address by Hera Hussain, CEO of Chayn, a global nonprofit that creates resources on the web to address gender-based violence. Venus Mahmood, Chair of the Committee of Experts on Combating Technology-Facilitated Violence Against Women and Girls, will present the new Recommendation. A panel discussion on translating standards into action will feature María Rún Bjarnadóttir (GREVIO) and Catherine Van De Heyning (Prosecutor and Professor of European Fundamental Rights, Belgium). The event will be followed by a reception.
