Raising awareness about the on-going reform, state of play and  its prospects in Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, on 1 August, in Mykolaiv City the seminar “Promoting decentralisation process in  communities of Mykolaiv oblast” was held by the Council of Europe Programme “Decentralisation and Territorial Consolidation in Ukraine” in co-operation with the NGO “Civil Society Institute” and on the initiative of member of the Parliament of Ukraine Andriy Vadatuskyi. Participants – representing various groups of stakeholders such as rayon state administrations, leaders of local authorities of basic and rayonal levels, local councillors, and civic activists – were called to discuss the state of play of the on-going reform, its expected impact and further prospects. The very specific attention was paid to issues of local budgeting and fiscal decentralisation, mobilisation of internal resources and attractive external ones. Also, success stories and best practices of amalgamated communities were presented by Bashtanka City mayor Ivan RUBSKYI (Mykolaiv oblast) and Bilozirskyi Village Mayor Volodymyr MITSUK  (Cherkasy oblast).
