15/04/2014: Education Experts to Define Ideal Teachers for Future

Education experts from across Europe are meeting next week to define the teachers we need for the 21st Century.
The Professional Image and Ethos of Teachers will be held at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg from 24-25 April. Participants will debate how teachers can equip pupils and students with the skills and understanding they need to meet the challenges and opportunities of our century – information technology, multiculturalism, economic constraints and environmental threats. Discussions will cover: teachers’ professional image and ethos, what makes a perfect teacher and a manifesto for teachers, to be published in the wake of the conference.
03/04/2014: New Italian European workshop
Apprenticeship and educational trainings in Italian and European schools: the state of the art and good practices. Problems to face and possible solutions for better insertion into the job market.

Please note that the workshop scheduled for October: "Learning diversity and global thinking through international school networks" Vienna, Austria - is canceled.

26/03/2014: Trainer training courses (Module series) 2014/2015.

  • Physical education and sport for democracy and human rights.

  • This European training course for trainers will be organised by the Pestalozzi Programme of the Council of Europe and the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS). They propose to implement a project on how values of the Council of Europe such as tolerance, intercultural understanding, diversity etc. can be promoted in school sport (Physical Education lessons and extra-curricular school sport).

    The online registration process for the summer school is completed, the selection by the National Liaison Officers is underway and a response will be sent to participants mid-April.

  • Developing Intercultural Competence through Education Developing Intercultural Competence through Education (Pestalozzi series n°3) (2014)

    The current volume takes one step further towards the full integration of intercultural competences as a key competence within the education system. It aims at offering an educational rationale and conceptual framework for the development of intercultural competence, as well as a clear description of its constitutive elements to be developed in and through education.

    What shows that you are interculturally competent?

    The Intercultural Cities Programme and the Pestalozzi Programme are launching a new web application. Optimised for smartphones and tablets this tool will help you look at your intercultural competence in a playful way, recognise your strong points as well as areas which need further development.
    The present application is based on an educational tool developed by a group of education professionals from all over Europe.
