17/06/2013: Pestalozzi Summer school "Does school have a future? Which schools for a diverse and truly democratic society?" Round Table Debate on 3 July 2013 in Bad Wildbad, Germany.
In the framework of the Pestalozzi Programme Summer School international speakers from different walks of life - politics, education, science and new media - will address this crucial issue.

  • The team of facilitators and the Secretariat from Pestalozzi Programme in cooperation with the Council of Europe Programme “Building a Europe for and with children” and in the context of the Council of Europe’s ONE in FIVE Campaign to stop sexual violence against children met for two days (6th-7th June) in order to prepare this new module series.     The information about dissemination and networking activities was collected from all over Europe by the Cascading team of the Pestalozzi online community of practice: Ildikó Lázár, Corinne Dussau, José Luis Martinez Garcia and Vivian Paraskevi Chiona.

    02/05/2013: Third Forum on intercultural learning and exchange

    The contribution of exchange to intercultural learning for educational institutions, October 2012, Vienna, Austria. The Head of the Pestalozzi Programme was invited to speak about the work of the Education Department of the Council of Europe in the field of intercultural education and in particular on guidelines for the development of intercultural competence in education focusing on teacher education.
    The paper was published in the current issue of “Intercultura” (pp. 10 - 12).

  • 12/04/2013: Teaching and education challenges of the 21st century

    Following the Council of Europe conference (OING), Commission of Education and Culture has prepared a survey dedicated to European teachers, dealing with teaching and education challenges of the 21st century.

    It is in this context that a questionnaire was developed to obtain the opinion of up European teachers. More than a hundred interviews have been conducted and we thank you warmly. A big congratulations to countries rallied strongly ! But it is not enough. We still need answers from all European countries.

    13/01/2013: Training activities 2013

    The training activities of the Pestalozzi Programme for 2013 are online as from today. In cooperation with our partners in our member states we can offer a wide range of training opportunities for education professionals across Europe on and around the major aspects of education for democracy: citizenship, human rights, diversity, languages, the prevention of violence and discrimination, responsible behaviour in the social space, to name but a few.

    Education which helps citizens live together in our diverse societies is a matter of urgency. We all need to develop the ability to understand each other across all types of cultural barriers; this is a fundamental prerequisite for making our diverse democratic societies work. This publication looks at the development of intercultural competence as a key element of mainstream education.
