Intergovernmental activities – three main projects
Brief presentation of current work in history teaching
Three main projects have been developed in the framework of intergovernmental activities at the Council of Europe in the last decade.
They all lead to concrete, tangible results that can be used by history teachers in their classroom practice
"The Image of the Other in History Teaching"
It builds on experience gained previously in the identification of prejudices and wrong interpretations and focuses on three themes that run parallel to current issues:
"The European dimension in History teaching" (2002 – 2006) Following a Recommendation on history teaching in the twenty-first century Europe, this project focused on the notion of "multiperspectivity" and tried to define what a European dimension and approach could be. "Learning and teaching about the history of Europe in the 20th century" (1997 – 2001)

Other activities took place earlier or in different contexts. An overview can be found under results of prior activities.
