12.10.2011 - Today, Bosnia and Herzegovina signed the Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (“Lanzarote Convention”, CETS 201) bringing the number of member states that have signed this international instrument to 43.

In the office of the Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General and in her presence, Ambassador Zdenko Martinović, Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina signed both the Lanzarote Convention and the Council of Europe Convention on Contact concerning Children (ETS 192).

By signing these two conventions, Bosnia and Herzegovina joins forces with other member states of the Council of Europe to protect children’s rights and to stop sexual abuses and exploitation against children.

This is the first step paving the way towards the ratification of the Lanzarote Convention. Currently, 15 member states have ratified these international legal instruments, including: Albania, Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Luxemburg, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Spain.
