The Final Conference of the Contest “Best Practices of Local Self-Government” in 2016 was held on 12 December 2016, in the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The Contest is organized in fifth time by the MinRegion jointly with the Council of Europe Programme “Decentralisation and territorial consolidation in Ukraine”.

The 23 best practices of local self-government authorities were awarded this year in three following topics: “Promoting economic activity, job creation”, “Amalgamation of communities”, “Centres of administrative services”. It is planned that winners of the Contest will take part in study visit to one of the Council of Europe member states, their practices will be published in the printed manual and on the MinRegion’s website. In addition, a series of peer visits is planned to be held within Ukraine.
