Integration activity «Children studio. Everything will be fine» for internally displaced persons of Lugansk region

October 17 the first of several planned integrative initiatives in Luhansk region launched in Svatovo. An integrative initiative “Kids’ studio “Everything will be fine” was initiated by the Svatovo district youth center and supported by the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening the Human Rights Protection of Internally Displaced Persons in Ukraine”.

The event started with the interactive session on human rights and youth participation for 25 senior pupils both representatives of displaced persons and host communities studying in five schools in the city. On the session participants learnt about the Convention on the rights of the child and “ladder of participation”. They tried to define the “temperature of human rights” in their schools and on concrete cases discussed the ways of protecting children’s rights.

Moreover within the integrative initiative “Kids’ studio “Everything will be fine” during school autumn vacations the series of workshops for children from internally displaced families, children from host community is being held on the base of Svatovo district youth center. The activity aimed on ensuring adaptation and psycho-social support for children, encouraging creativity and self-realization, creation of space for fun, communication and mutual learning.

In general around 20 children will take part in six workshops on beads weaving, wood burning, sand animation, polymer clay modeling. October-December 2016 the Project “Strengthening the Human Rights Protection of Internally Displaced Persons in Ukraine” will support 3 more initiatives and activities aimed on integration of IDPs and members of host communities in different places in Luhansk region.
