As a UK City of Sanctuary Bradford District is big, diverse and globally connected with long-standing traditions of welcoming people from across the world, all of whom have played their part in contributing to its history, heritage and cultural and economic life. As the UK’s youngest city Bradford has a diverse and vibrant population with an entrepreneurial spirit that recently helped to earn the district the title of “UK City of Culture 2025”.

Bradford district is formed of a network of cities, towns and villages each with their own unique identities, and surrounded by beautiful countryside and moorland. Through working over many years to bring communities together, promote shared values and connect people to opportunities, the districts’ services and community organisations have developed a significant body of expertise about what does and does not work in increasing inclusion and integration in the community. This is why Bradford became one of five integration areas funded by the UK Government’s Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) to build on this experience.

Bradford District’s Bradford for Everyone Strategy has been an opportunity to refresh our commitment and go further. The collective vision for the district is “a place where everyone feels that they belong, are understood, feel safe and are able to fully participate in the opportunities that the District offers”. The commitments outlined within the strategy are delivered under the title “Bradford For Everyone” by the Stronger Communities team working alongside partners from across the local authority as well as with other key stakeholders, the voluntary and community sector and the people of the district.
