Back The "Remarkable Garden" label

The

The Remarkable Garden label is a registered trademark for France and Europe. Like the logo, it can be used by any country that requests it from the French Ministry of Culture.

Established in 2004, the "Remarkable Garden" label distinguishes gardens and parks, both  historical and contemporary, particularly well maintained and open to visitors. More than 450 exceptional parks and gardens (public or private, whether or not they are protected as historical monuments) benefit in France from this quality label awarded by the Ministry of Culture. It is awarded, for a renewable period of 5 years, to gardens of cultural, aesthetic, historical or botanical interest and meeting criteria of composition, integration into the site, communication, ...

This label is also of interest to European partners and was adopted by Wallonia in 2019,  who has already labelled about 30 parks and gardens. Countries can benefit of the use of the name, logo and criteria of the label (a registered trademark for the whole of Europe) by simply applying to the French Ministry. Being labeled "Remarkable Garden" ensures recognition, special communication and the possibility now for  other countries granting this label  to compete for the Garden Art Prize, created by the Signature Foundation.

The labeled gardens in Belgium are the domain of Freÿr, the regional domain Solvay (Park of La Hulpe) (Fig. 6), the park of Enghien, the domain of Mariemont, the park of the castle of Attre, the park of the castle of Beloeil, the park of the castle of Modave, the park of the castle of Seneffe, the vegetable garden of the castle of Ecaussinnes-Lalaing, the domain of Annevoie, the park of the castle of Jehay, the gardens of the abbey of Villers-la-Ville, the gardens of the Lake of Bambois, the domain of Bocage, the competition gardens of Roeulx (City of Namur-Wépion).

Italy, Hungary and Romania are also interested in this label.
