The Council of Europe, in the framework of the Regional Action on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in South East Europe – JUFREX 2, implemented under the joint EU/CoE Horizontal Facility II for Western Balkans and Turkey, has organised a Regional conference on Audiovisual Media Services and the role of Media Regulatory Authorities in Igalo, Montenegro.

The event offered a platform for discussion on provisions of the revised Audiovisual Media Services Directive, new obligations and capacities of regulatory authorities, new services, protection of minors, disinformation, regulation of online media and independence of media regulatory bodies - relating challenges and possible joint actions.

JUFREX 2 builds upon the results achieved during a previous joint EU/CoE regional programme JUFREX - Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe. This event supported the established cooperation between media regulatory authorities from the region aiming at further capacity building, exchange of information and networking between peers from the region.
