DPC Open Day 2026: presenting achievements and impact in the field

In a time of rapid acceleration, the Council of Europe’s strength lies in clarity of direction. This message was at the heart of the Directorate of Programme Co-ordination’s (DPC) Open Day 2026, which showcased how co-operation translates political commitments into concrete and measurable reforms.

Through targeted technical assistance, Action Plans, programmes and projects, the Council of Europe turns European standards in human rights, democracy and the rule of law into practical results. A network of 16 field offices and more than 500 million euros in voluntary contributions mobilised over the past decade enable sustained support for national reforms aligned with Council of Europe monitoring recommendations, both in member states and neighbouring regions.

By combining a strong field presence, strategic partnership with the European Union and rigorous results-based management, the co-operation dimension of the Council of Europe ensures coherence and impact. In a fast-changing environment, DPC – acting jointly with DG I, DG II, PACE and the Congress  - delivers what matters most: steady direction for the co-operation sector that strengthens institutions, protects citizens and reinforces democratic resilience.
