Reggio Emillia

Reggio Emillia

Reggio Emilia has joined the Intercultural Cities Network in 2008 and has undergone the First ICC Expert visit in that year. This follow up visit explored the progress made by the city and provided advise on how to address current challenges.

The expert visit in Reggio Emilia was the occasion to meet and discuss with the deputy mayor in charge of internationality, intercultural policies and citizenship rights, with the internal services working on intercultural aspects, as well as with the external stakeholders, Mondinsieme and the migrant associations. A visit to a youth center frequented by some non-accompanied minors, as well as young people with migrant background was organised.

After this introduction, three focus meetings were held on “relations with the religious communities”, “refugees and welcoming” and “illiteracy (adult illiteracy in particular)”.

More insight on the different policies carried out by Reggio Emilia, examples and best practice, will be the object of a following report.

Novellara is a member of the Italian Intercultural cities’ network and received an expert visit for the first time.
