The Polish Parliament in Warsaw

Following the request of the monitoring committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Venice Commission has issued an urgent joint opinion concerning Poland’s draft law on the status of judges appointed or promoted between 2018 and 2025 and other related matters. The urgent opinion was prepared by the Venice Commission jointly with the Directorate General of human rights and rule of law  of the Council of Europe and was published on 27 February 2026.

The urgent joint opinion will be submitted for endorsement at its next plenary session of the Venice Commission, which will take place in Venice, Italy on 6-7 March 2026.
