The Council of Europe's Eurimages has awarded €9.835 million to support 32 feature film co-productions in its first funding round of 2026, including two documentaries and one animated film.

Notably, 17 of the selected projects are directed or co-directed by women, representing 59.71% of the total funding.

Top-supported titles (each receiving €500,000) include:

A World of Their Own by Carmen Córdoba (Spain/Belgium, animation)

Fonda by Justine Triet (France/Belgium)

If Love Should Die by Mia Hansen-Løve (Ireland/France/Spain/Poland)

Santo Subito by Bertrand Bonello (France/Italy/Poland)

The selection reflects strong international collaboration across Europe and beyond, with over 30 different countries involved in the supported co-productions.  France, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands and Spain are well particularly well represented this time around.  All of these projects have no scheduled date of release as of this time.

Eurimages is the Council of Europe’s film fund, supporting independent cinema through co-production financing as well as distribution and exhibition support. Eurimages typically has three to four funding rounds per year (project evaluation sessions).

Founded in 1989, it brings together 39 European countries plus Canada and operates with an annual budget of around €27.5 million. To date, it has backed over 2,600 films, playing a key role in enabling cross-border European filmmaking.
