Spain: the Ministry of Culture and Sports organises the 2nd Annual National Coordination meeting on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe

On 8-9 March 2023, the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Spain organised the 2nd Annual National Coordination meeting for the representatives of the 25 certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe crossing Spain in the city of Santiago de Compostela. 

The meeting was the opportunity for Cultural Routes managers to meet professionals in the field of Culture, local development, citizen participation as well as heritage preservation, and exchange on best practices and the way forward.

The meeting was opened by MaríaAgúndez Leria,  Deputy Director General for the Management and Coordination of Cultural Assets of the Ministry of culture and sport; Maria Nava Castro Domínguez, Director of Tourism Galicia; and Stefano Dominioni, Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes.

Spain is a member State of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe since 2011. There are currently 5 certified Cultural Routes with headquarters in Spain and 25 Cultural Routes crossing the country.

Mr. Sergio ORTEGA, Head of the Heritage Protection and European Programmes Service of the Management and Coordination of Cultural Assets of the Ministry of culture and sport of Spain is the national representatives of Spain to the EPA on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
