On 11th of December, in Chisinau, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, with the support of the Council of Europe, organised an in-depth training programme aimed at enhancing the ability of media institutions to prepare eligible project proposals for the national Media Subsidy Fund and further ensure their financial sustainability. The event brought together over 40 journalists, editors and project coordinators from media outlets from various districts across Moldova.
The training programme allowed participants to examine the key components of a development project, including problem identification, institutional needs assessment, formulation of general and specific objectives, definition of results and establishment of monitoring indicators.
Further sessions on stakeholder analysis, sustainability and risk management equipped participants with practical tools for designing coherent and feasible projects that could allow media institutions to access to governmental, as well as external funding programmes.
Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and of the Council of Europe Media Project emphasised the importance of strengthening media outlets’ capacity to access public funding, as well as develop innovative means of financial sustainability, noting that well-designed projects contribute to a more professional, resilient and sustainable media sector.
The activity was carried out by the Project ”Advancing Media Freedom in the Republic of Moldova”, within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2025–2028.
