The objective of the visit was to assess the situation of residents in social care homes, and foreign nationals deprived of their liberty under migration legislation, in light of the specific recommendations made by the Committee after its previous visit in 2024.
To this end, the delegation visited four social care homes in both Entities, one immigration detention centre, and the holding areas at Sarajevo International Airport.
At the end of the visit, the delegation provided the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina with its preliminary observations and held consultations with:
- Ivica Bošnjak, Acting Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Alen Šeranić, Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republika Srpska
- Miroslav Ugrešič, Assistant Minister of Labour and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The visit was carried out by the following CPT members: Aleksandar Tomčuk (Head of Delegation), Slavica Dimitrievska and Nikola Kovačević. They were supported by Christian Loda of the CPT Secretariat.

- Immigration Detention Centre, Lukavica
- Holding rooms of the Border Police and holding area at the Restricted Zone of Sarajevo International Airport
