Mr Rafael Bustos Gisbert, member of the Venice Commission in respect of Spain, participated in the second edition of the Council of Europe High-level Conference with Ombudsperson Institutions and National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) - ON Forum, which is taking place in Strasbourg, France (12-13 March 2026).
Mr Bustos Gisbert participated in Session 2 “Erosion of checks and balances”, where he presented the Updated Rule of Law Checklist and underlined the fundamental role of independent institutions, such as ombudsperson institutions and NHRIs, in contributing to an effective system of checks and balances.
