En accord avec la Déclaration de Reykjavík, adoptée par nos 46 États membres en mai dernier, nous restons déterminés à protéger et promouvoir les normes européennes en matière de droits humains, de démocratie et d'État de droit au sein de notre espace juridique commun unique. Ce système inspiré par la Convention européenne des droits de l'homme et renforcé par les arrêts contraignants de la Cour européenne des droits de l'homme, demeure la conscience de l'Europe. Nous garantirons une application homogène de nos normes face aux défis persistants et émergents de notre époque.

Our support for our member state Ukraine is unwavering, as is our commitment to ensuring accountability for Russia’s war of aggression against that country. Our work will therefore continue following our setting up of a Register of Damage to record loss and harm on the ground in Ukraine, and which serves as a first and necessary step towards an international compensation mechanism, to which the Council of Europe is also ready to contribute. Without such accountability, there can be no sustainable peace. We will also complete our work on new and ground-breaking conventions on the human rights aspects of Artificial Intelligence and the degradation of our environment. These are cross-border challenges requiring multilateral solutions. In every aspect of its mandate, the Council of Europe will work with like-minded governments and international organisations, striving for efficiency and effectiveness, and shaping a better future for the people of Europe and the wider world.”
